Youth Charged With Numerous Offences


A 17-year-old from Esher has been charged with multiple offences, including assaulting a police officer, assault, burglary and hate crime offences. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with 13 offences, including: • 1 count of assault on a police officer; • 2 counts of assault by beating; • 3 counts of criminal damage; • 2 counts of theft from a shop; • 2 counts of common assault; • 1 count of non-dwelling burglary; • 1 count of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence; • 1 count of racially/religiously aggravated harassment/alarm/distress by words or writing.

He is next due to appear at Guildford Youth Court on 5 June.

The charges relate to offences which occurred at the Co-Op store in Claygate and the Claygate Youth Centre between 22 April and 4 May.
